Recommended Hotels in Hong Kong: Personally Tested Stays by Area ππ°π¨
From budget picks in Yau Ma Tei to Disney Resort hotels in Lantau β here are my personally recommended hotels in Hong Kong, organized by area.
Hong Kong is one of those cities where where you stay shapes the entire trip. The right hotel puts you walking distance from the best food, the right MTR station, and the cheapest airport bus route. The wrong one has you spending 40 minutes in transit every time you want to do anything. Every hotel on this list has been personally stayed in β no guesswork, no filler. Here's what I found. Ganito lang 'yan! π

Kowloon β Tsim Sha Tsui π
Tsim Sha Tsui is the classic first-timer base in Hong Kong β and for good reason. You're on the Kowloon waterfront with direct views of Hong Kong Island across the harbour, walking distance to the Avenue of Stars, K11 Musea, Temple Street Night Market, and the A21 airport bus drops you practically at the door.
π¨ Dash Living on Pratt
- β 5 minutes walk to Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station
- β 2 minutes from A21 bus stop (direct airport connection)
- β Restaurant at the bottom of the hotel
- β 7-Eleven within walking distance
- β Comfortable beds and pillows β genuinely good sleep
- β Good storage space, well-ventilated room
- β οΈ Bathroom is compact β functional but not spacious
- β οΈ No bidet β bring a portable one if that's important to you
We booked a twin room on Agoda and the location alone justified everything. Coming from the airport on the A21 bus, we were at the hotel in under an hour from landing β no MRT transfers, no luggage hauling through crowds. That convenience on arrival day alone is worth noting.
The room itself is clean and practical. Nothing flashy, but everything you need is there β and the bed quality surprised me. Woke up properly rested every morning, which doesn't always happen in budget hotels.

Kowloon β Yau Ma Tei ποΈ
Yau Ma Tei sits just north of Tsim Sha Tsui β slightly less touristy, more neighbourhood-feeling, and with its own distinct character. Nathan Road runs straight through it, the jade market and Temple Street Night Market are nearby, and the MTR connects you to everywhere.
π¨ Caritas Bianchi Lodge β My Top Budget Pick in Hong Kong
- β Steps from Nathan Road
- β Short walk to Yau Ma Tei MTR Station
- β Near A21 bus stop from the airport
- β Next to D&S Grocery β one of the cheapest spots to buy pasalubong in Hong Kong
- β Surrounded by restaurants and cafes
- β Extremely spacious room for the price
- β One of the best sleeps I've had in a Hong Kong hotel
This is the one that genuinely surprised me. I went in with low expectations β it's budget-priced by Hong Kong standards, which usually means compromises. What I got instead was a triple room with one double bed, two single beds, a sofa, and enough floor space to actually move around comfortably. The shower area was generous. The bed felt like sleeping at home.
The neighbourhood adds to it. You're surrounded by local life β not in a touristy, staged way, but in a way that makes you feel like you're actually in Hong Kong rather than just visiting a theme park version of it. And having D&S Grocery nearby for affordable pasalubong is genuinely useful.
Ten out of ten for budget travelers who want location, space, and a proper night's sleep.

Hong Kong Island β Causeway Bay π
Causeway Bay is the shopping and food capital of Hong Kong Island β Times Square mall, SOGO, hundreds of restaurants across every price point, and a MTR station that connects you to Central, Wan Chai, and the rest of the island in minutes.
π¨ Mini Hotel Causeway Bay
- β Walking distance to Causeway Bay MTR Station β one of the most central on Hong Kong Island
- β Walkable to Times Square and major shopping streets
- β Accessible to Victoria Peak from the HK Island side
- β Clean, well-designed compact room with good aircon, WiFi, and comfortable bed
- β From β±2,000+ per night β one of the most affordable options on the island
- β οΈ Room is small β solo or couple travelers only, not suitable for groups
- β οΈ No bidet
- β οΈ Disposable towels instead of standard ones β bring your own if that bothers you
My first time staying here and I'd go back. The room is objectively small β Mini Hotel lives up to its name β but the space planning is smart enough that it doesn't feel cramped. Everything is in the right place. For a solo traveler or a couple who spends most of the day out and just needs a clean, comfortable, well-located place to sleep β this is excellent value for Hong Kong Island.
The location is the real sell. Being on the Island side means you're already in position for Victoria Peak, Central, and Wan Chai without needing to cross the harbour every time.

New Territories β Tsuen Wan πΏ
Tsuen Wan is outside the main tourist circuit β a residential and commercial area in the New Territories that most visitors skip entirely. That's exactly what makes it interesting. The neighbourhood has a local, unhurried energy that's a genuine change of pace from the intensity of TST or Causeway Bay.
π¨ Panda Hotel
- β Direct A31 bus from the airport β convenient arrival
- β Free shuttle bus to Tsim Sha Tsui and other tourist areas
- β Walkable to Tsuen Wan MTR Station
- β 4-star quality at a noticeably lower price than equivalent hotels in central areas
- β Triple room with 3 single beds, small refrigerator, microwave
- β Bathroom with bathtub
- β Grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, and a D&S shop nearby for affordable pasalubong
- β οΈ No bidet
- β οΈ Further from central tourist areas β the free shuttle helps, but factor in travel time
The triple room we booked was genuinely spacious β one of the best room-to-price ratios on this entire list. Three single beds, room to move around, a proper bathroom with bathtub, and appliances that make longer stays comfortable. The building and facilities feel solidly 4-star without the 4-star price tag.
The honest caveat: you're in Tsuen Wan, not TST. The free shuttle to tourist areas helps a lot, and the MTR connects you everywhere β but if you want to step out and immediately be in the middle of Hong Kong's most visited spots, this isn't that hotel. If you want a relaxed base with more space for less money, it's an excellent call.

Lantau Island β Hong Kong Disneyland Resort π°
For anyone planning a Hong Kong Disneyland visit, the three on-property hotels offer something that off-site options simply can't: the full Disney experience from the moment you check in to the moment you check out.
On-property advantage: Staying at any Disney hotel gives you access to the amenities and activities of all three hotels β not just the one you're booked at. Character greetings happen in the lobby and by the pool. You walk directly into the park. These are the moments that make staying on-property worth it.
